Our Story

Amae Health was born from a simple realization that the current system isn't enough. While millions living with severe mental illness (SMI) are left behind by a broken healthcare landscape, for our founders Sonia Garcia and Stas Sokolin, this isn’t a statistic, it’s personal.

After navigating the devastating reality of untreated illness within their own families, they refused to accept the status quo. Today, Amae is the change they needed to see: a place where high-quality, compassionate care is a right, not a rarity.

Relentlessly moving
the field forward

Because we know the pain of the current system, we are using the most advanced technology to ensure no other family has to face it alone. While our daily focus is on our members, our vision is to establish a center of excellence for SMI.

Our team of physicians, engineers, and researchers is advancing treatment through longitudinal, data-driven insights. By developing a precision medicine platform and collaborating with institutions like Cedars-Sinai, NewYork-Presbyterian, and Massachusetts General Hospital, we are redefining how severe mental illness is diagnosed, treated, and understood.

ah-mai

Living up to our name

Amae (pronounced “ah-mai”) is a Japanese term that reflects the innate human desire and ability to depend on each other. We were inspired by this concept because, time and time again, we’ve seen how a strong support system can uplift us, carry us forward, and help us thrive. We see the power and value of amae in our members, as well as in our growing team of healthcare practitioners.

Together, we’re not just making progress. We’re revolutionizing the future of mental healthcare.
