Our Story
Severe mental illness (SMI) affects millions of Americans, yet the healthcare system often leaves those struggling without the care and support they need. For Sonia Garcia (left) and Stas Sokolin (right), this crisis is deeply personal. Both have witnessed firsthand the devastating impact of untreated mental illness—within their own families, through the loss of loved ones, and in the systemic failures that allow so many to fall through the cracks. Rather than accept the status quo, they set out to build something better. Amae Health was born out of lived experience, determination, and a belief that high-quality, compassionate care should be accessible to those who need it most.

Relentlessly moving the field forward
While our daily focus is on our members and communities, our vision is to create the center of excellence for SMI.
Our team of dedicated physicians, engineers and researchers is advancing the state of SMI treatment by leveraging longitudinal data-driven insights. In our commitment to advancing the field of mental health, we’re developing a cutting-edge precision medicine platform and are collaborating with top academic institutions like Cedars-Sinai, NewYork-Presbyterian and Massachusetts General Hospital. Together, we’re redefining how severe mental illnesses are diagnosed, treated, and understood.

Living up to our name
Amae (pronounced “ah-mai”) is a Japanese term that reflects the innate human desire and ability to depend on each other. We were inspired by this concept because, time and time again, we’ve seen how a strong support system can uplift us, carry us forward, and help us thrive. We see the power and value of amae in our members, as well as in our growing team of healthcare practitioners.
Together, we’re not just making progress. We’re revolutionizing the future of mental healthcare.
