Serena Puga, MD
I have a broad base of training which has encompassed emergency and acute care adult and geriatric psychiatry, residential treatment of comorbid mental illness and substance abuse disorders, and community mental health in socio-economically disadvantaged communities with psychosocial barriers to care. In my private practice I have focused on the treatment of complex mood, personality, comorbid medical and psychiatric conditions, neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative disorders, as well as civil forensic work with Spanish speaking examinees. I have worked extensively with transitional-aged youth in a combined psychotherapeutic and psychopharmacological model with an eye to family focused interventions and functional recovery. I am one of two Los Angeles based providers certified by the Columbia University Center for Psychoanalytic Analytic Training and Research in Transference-Focused Psychotherapy, an evidence-based treatment for severe personality disorders.
